Test Details

Test Includes

SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, Influenza B, Adenovirus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus A/B, Human Metapneumovirus, Rhinovirus, Parainfluenza 3, Parainfluenza 4, Parainfluenza 2, Parainfluenza 1, Serratia Marcescens, Moraxella catarrhalis, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Haemophilus Influenzae A/B, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Legionella pneumophila, Chlamydia pneumoniae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Klebsiella aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Enterovirus spp., Enterovirus D68.

Use

Detection and identification of viral and bacterial nucleic acids in nasopharyngeal swab specimens from patients with signs and symptoms of respiratory infection. Aids in rapid diagnosis of co-infections and guides appropriate antimicrobial therapy by distinguishing among multiple pathogenic causes of respiratory illness.

Limitations

Only detects nucleic acids specifically included in the panel. Can detect DNA and RNA from dead/non-viable organisms. Results should be considered in the context of the presence of clinical signs and symptoms.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen
Nasopharyngeal swab only
Volume
1 mL of transport media
Container
Transport media or viral transport media such as STM, Copan E-swab, Viraport.
Collection Instructions
Insert swab into nasopharynx and rotate gently for 5–10 seconds. Immediately place swab into transport media tube. Ensure adequate transport media is present. Do not allow swab to dry.
Stability Requirements
ConditionDuration
Refrigerated (2–8°C)Up to 72 hours
Storage Instructions
Keep refrigerated (2–8°C). Cold chain preferred during transport.
Causes for Rejection
  • Insufficient volume
  • Improper specimen type
  • Unlabeled or mislabeled specimens
  • Sample out of specimen stability window
