Detection and identification of bacterial and fungal nucleic acids in urine specimens from patients with signs and symptoms of urinary tract infection. Enables rapid identification of causative uropathogens and associated antibiotic resistance markers to guide targeted antimicrobial therapy.
Larger urine volumes may dilute organism concentration reducing sensitivity. Resistance gene detection does not specify which organism carries the gene. Only detects nucleic acids specifically included in the panel. Can detect DNA from dead/non-viable organisms. Results should be considered in the context of the presence of clinical signs and symptoms.
