Test Details

Test Includes

Morganella morganii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter cloacae, Enterococcus faecalis, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella oxytoca, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Serratia marcescens, Providencia stuartii, Acinetobacter Baumannii, Bacteroides Spp., Citrobacter Freundii, Citrobacter Braakii, Candida glabrata, Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis, Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma parvum serovar/Urealyticum, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, Streptococcus agalactiae, MecC, MecA, qnrS, SUL, VanA/VanB, KPC, CTX-M.

Use

Detection and identification of bacterial and fungal nucleic acids in urine specimens from patients with signs and symptoms of urinary tract infection. Enables rapid identification of causative uropathogens and associated antibiotic resistance markers to guide targeted antimicrobial therapy.

Limitations

Larger urine volumes may dilute organism concentration reducing sensitivity. Resistance gene detection does not specify which organism carries the gene. Only detects nucleic acids specifically included in the panel. Can detect DNA from dead/non-viable organisms. Results should be considered in the context of the presence of clinical signs and symptoms.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen
Clean catch (midstream) urine sample
Volume
Urine: minimum 5 mL
Container
Preservative-free transport tube (preferred) or plastic urine cup.
Collection Instructions
Mid-stream urine sample: clean the urinary opening, then begin urinating into the toilet. After a few seconds, catch the middle portion of the stream into the specimen cup. Do not overfill. Transfer to transport tube.
Stability Requirements
ConditionDuration
Refrigerated (2–8°C)Up to 24 hours
Storage Instructions
Keep refrigerated (2–8°C). Do NOT leave at room temperature for extended periods. Protect from extreme heat/sunlight. Ship with cool packs.
Causes for Rejection
  • Insufficient volume
  • Improper specimen type
  • Unlabeled or mislabeled specimens
  • Sample out of specimen stability window
